How Much Does Honda B1 Service Cost

Honda'southward B1 Service - Is it really necessary?
Howdy RFD,
The maintenance minder on my 2013 Civic but came upwards every bit needing "B1 Service." Later on looking into what this entails, I'm wondering if this is actually necessary?
Besides replacing the oil & filter, Honda wants $240 to do the following:
-Service front end & rear brakes (not certain what they mean by "service" as they exercise not demand replacing yet. Unless they're just applying some type of lubricant)
-Bank check parking brake
-Inspect tie rods, steering gear
-Inspect break
-Inspect brake hoses/lines
-Cheque all fluid levels
-Inspect exhaust
-Inspect fuel lines
-Rotate tires (which I do non need as recently put winters on)
It seems as though Honda wants $240+ to only take a expect at a few components. Is this really necessary for a less than ii-twelvemonth one-time car? My but concern would be my warranty, and if by skipping this service (likewise oil & filter) will negatively impact certain aspects of the manufacturing plant warranty.

Does have to be washed, just it doesn't need to exist washed at the dealer. Information technology tin can exist done by a trustworthy mechanic and as long as you keep the receipts/documentation showing it was done, your warranty volition be fine.
Since the light came on in the car, is information technology time for this service, based on kms/time, or is the lite showing 'early'? Usually with Toyotas at that place is a service every 8000 kms and it alternates between an oil change and a maintenance service (inspections + oil alter). I would recollect that Honda would have something similar.

You lot would take to cheque with Honda to run into if non doing the B1 service volition cause some warranty concerns. When they say service front and rear brakes that usually includes removing all 4 calipers, service the brake pads, lubricate the sliders, checking the rotors and putting everything back together. It is normally ane hours labor for front end brake service and 1 hours labor for rear service at most dealerships. If the tech is good he could take all iv done in less than an hour.

The issue is that they tend to overcharge and tend to recommend actress work like machining, etc. that are likely not necessary. If y'all trust the service people at your dealer and know your car, fine, merely otherwise, prepare to open up your wallet wide. Knowing next to nothing most cars, I didn't take my first car anywhere else merely the dealer for at least the first 100K and I regret it.

Just have my brake serviced last week. Went to dealer for maintaince service for 140. They asked another 160 to service my brakes becuase they meet some seize on slider pin. I went to my mechanic to have the task washed for 80.

You just need to volume an date for oil alter only at dealer.
Service brakes may mean "cleaning" the brakes which I accept never done. You but replace brake pads or rotors when they are making squeaking noise.
Checking all fluids, etc you can do yourself.
Rotating tires tin can exist done at some independent mechanic for a cheaper price. I rotate tires every year when I am switching between winter/summer tires.

I'm thinking that 3# is your best bet. (Just I don't know anything about Wally's. Ask around.)
Depending on what trim level of Civic yous have, the rear brakes may exist drums, in which case I wouldn't exist too concerned nearly getting them serviced yet as they are protected somewhat from the elements.
A good shop will advise you accordingly, because they are busy anyway and probably don't want to accuse you for unnecessary work.

FWIW, Ivan at iGarage quoted me $100 for the B1 service for my 2010 Borough (using Kendall GT-1) and $140 if I wanted Honda 5w20 synthetic.

rotating tires is all u need on the B1 service
u can do all of that at an independent mechanic for cheaper than $240
dont allow the service advisor trap/upsell u on a cycle alignment, cabin filter change, engine air filter change if u accept information technology to Honda

Honda wanted like $100 to replace the motel and air filter in our 08 Odyessy ,did information technology myself for around $forty.Very easy to do, but almost people don't realize this.

Pull off front wheels, expect at pad thickness. Run into if inside / exterior pads are evenly being used otherwise caliper might be stuck. Don't need to lube annihilation unless you're replacing pads. I have an 08 civic and had Honda do all this service excluding an former change & rotation. This was $91 2 years ago. 4 years ago it was 89.10. Maybe come to Chatham.
During ane of these services they came to me in the waiting area wanting like $150 just to throw in a fix of front end pads. I could see the wheels and calipers were already off, so it was a rip off price. Too, I already had a gear up of wagner thremo quiets that I bought with a post in rebate. I drove it some other 8 months or so, waited for a warm twenty-four hours and changed them out, very like shooting fish in a barrel.
I have a set of rotors and pads prepare for next year. The borough sure is easy on the brakes. Service the rusting rotors, calipers, brackets, slide pins yearly (when winters come off) and watch for wheels heating upwards.
I have drums on the dorsum and take the drums off twice a yr for inspection, never a trouble. Honda has a prissy white grease coating covering. I should appoint my mitt brake more often though.

+one...I cringe every time I'm in the service waiting area at the dealership and I come across one of the service advisors come out to show the person beside me how dirty the cabin air filter is and to tell them it will be $threescore to do that (5 minutes of work + $v-$10 in materials, tops)

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. I've contacted Honda via email as I'd prefer a paper trail. Have booked an appointment for an oil change anyhow. After speaking to a few people who know a lot more than about vehicles than I do, the full general conclusion seems to be most of these "inspections" are not necessary. Waiting on a reply from Honda regarding whether or not this affects future warranty claims.

I have a 2014 Civic, it'southward about 4 months old. I programme only to get oil changes done at the dealership (until warranty decease) to smooth over whatever possible powertrain warranty claims in the future. I'll skip all the "check this, check that" bloat.
I've never gone for these service packages on any of my vehicles, but I do regularly check basic things on my ain. The additional $200+ per oil change adds up quickly.
Fifty-fifty if y'all get for their brake service and they find something incorrect, the likelihood is that you'll go the "brakes are a wear and tear item" line and yous'll probably be on the claw for new pads/rotors anyhow.

Sorry to resurrect an onetime thread.
We have a 2016 Honda Civic that has eighteen,500 kms on information technology so is due for it's side by side oil change.
We contacted a local Honda dealer & were given a price of $213 plus tax for the B1 service.....seemed kinda steep for a brand new car.
A tire rotation is included, but I have winters which I plan on swapping myself. I told the dealership that but they said that the tire rotation is included in the price so there is no discount for doing it myself.
I recall I'one thousand going to take to detect a small garage in Hamilton to bargain with...anyone take any recommends. I'm on the w mountain in Ancaster.
